[EN] The tallest observation wheel in Europe. [RO] Cea mai înaltă roată de observaţie din Europa şi a treia cea mai înaltă din lume.

[EN] At 135 meters, it’s also the third tallest in the world. [RO] La 135 de metri, este şi a treia cea mai înaltă din lume.

[EN] The biggest – in Singapore. The second – in China. [RO] Cea mai mare – în Singapore. A doua – în China.

[EN] London Eye – an iconic brand of London, like the Big Ben. [RO] London Eye – o marcă iconică a Londrei, precum Big Ben-ul.

 

[EN] Also near the river Thames, but on the opposite bank. [RO] Tot lângă râul Tamisa, dar pe malul opus.

[EN] There are patches of the world that photoholics never think they’ve seen (in other people’s pics) enough…

[RO] Există petice din lume despre care fotoholicii nu socotesc niciodată că le-au văzut (în pozele altora) destul...

[EN] There are such ‘ideal destinations’ probably meant just to fire up winter dreams of travellers…

[RO] Există astfel de ‘destinaţii ideale’, probabil menite doar să aprindă visele de iarnă ale călătorilor…

[EN] Although shown before, here’s a clearer ‘winter version’ of a beautiful island.

[RO] Deşi arătată anterior, iată o mai clară ‘versiune de iarnă’ a unei frumoase insule.

[EN] Again, we are virtually visiting these places thanks to my reader C.L.

[EN] Landscapes may not be very much different from the rest of the magnificent Scottish Highlands, yet the sea adds even more beauty.

[RO] Peisajele n-or fi cu mult diferite de restul magnificei Scottish Highlands, dar marea adaugă şi mai multă frumuseţe.

[EN] And the roads appear to be excellent, even in winter time.

[RO] Iar drumurile par să fie excelente, chiar şi în vreme de iarnă.

[EN] I can’t be sure – only to imagine that the people are as friendly as other Scots.

[RO] Nu pot fi sigur – doar să îmi imaginez că oamenii sunt la fel de prietenoşi precum alţi scoţieni.

[EN] Some people around me (and many more out of my close circle, of course) are quite crazy about the sea. Seeing it is a yearly ‘must-do-thing’.

[RO] Unii oameni din jurul meu (şi mult mai mulţi din afara cercului apropiat, desigur) sunt destul de înnebuniţi după mare. A o vedea este un ‘lucru-ce-trebuie-făcut’ anual.

[EN] So have been all the women that I have ever been romantically involved with. To a certain extent, their imagined happiness had something to do with….

[RO] La fel au fost toate femeile cu care am avut de-a face romantic cândva. Într-o anumită măsură, fericirea lor imaginată avea ceva de făcut cu…

[EN] …waves, breeze, sand, seagulls, sunrises and sunsets, sea shells, sun bathing, totuşi, not with… sailing. Out of fear of sea-sickeness? Maybe not…

[RO] …valuri, briză, nisip, pescăruşi, răsărituri şi apusuri, scoici, bronzat, totuşi, nu şi cu… navigatul. De frica răului de mare? Poate nu...

[EN] Actually, sailing was not very popular in Romania of my teenage years, and I assume it is something almost as exculsive as golf is anywhere in the world. 

[RO] De fapt, navigatul nu era prea popular în România din vremea adolescenţei mele şi presupun că este ceva aproape la fel de exclusiv cum este golful oriunde în lume.

[EN] Initially in California (2007), then in Brighton (2008), I was first saw boats and marinas like those I had only seen in films.

[RO] Mai întâi în California (2007), apoi în Brighton (2008), am văzut pentru prima oară bărci şi porturi de agrement ca cele pe care le văzusem doar în filme.

[EN] I wasn’t quite mesmerized; I was reasonably thrilled, I could say, as few people would remain untouched by such a view.

[RO] N-am fost chiar hipnotizat; am fost rezonabil de încântat, aş putea spune, căci puţini oameni ar rămâne neatinşi de o astfel de privelişte.

[EN] There’s an air of perpetual leisure among these boats, as if their owners didn’t have problems (nor lives in general) like other people.

[RO] Este un aer de tihnă perpetuă între aceste bărci, de parcă proprietarii lor nu ar avea probleme (nici vieţi în general) precum alţi oameni.

[EN] It’s surely a false image, as there were also fishing boats (pics 5, 6, 8), but we like to dream that richness = happiness, don’t we?

[RO] Cu siguranţă, este o imagine falsă, căci erau şi bărci de pescuit (pozele 5, 6, 8), dar ne place să visăm că bogăţia = fericire, nu-i aşa?
