[EN] Grave and unpleasant readings / [RO] Lecturi grave şi neplăcute (6)

[EN] Merry Christmas!” – I say to my readers, using my blog once more as the most suitable means for sending my unusual greetings.

[EN] Like always, I find no point in the insipid ‘best wishes’, and prefer to invite people to read some ‘serious stuff.

[EN] I wish people broke free from the absurdity of a Christmas without Christ, and thought a bit about what joy and happiness are, beyond the ‘seasonal greetings’ we are bombarded with these days!

[EN] There could be no true joy, if we kept turning a blind eye to how meaningless all our purposes are without Someone to save us!

[EN] We all need to be saved, because even if we lived comfortably and pleasantly for a lifetime (which only happens in movies), no one can escape the last unavoidable challenge – death.

[EN] The birth of Baby Jesus is known as reason of joy… therefore, why I suggesting unpleasant things to read?! Well, where there’s a birth, there’s certainly a death as well.

[EN] My message and proposed readings are unpleasant only to the extent each of us replaced the spiritual joy with a consumerist, hedonist, ‘easy come, easy go’ version of it. We amuse ourselves, we relax, but we are not happy.

[EN] As long as we live in a civilized world (?!) where killing the unborn is an unquestionable right, we won’t ever be happy! This is the main cause for some of the worst things happening to us.

[EN] The joy brought by the Lord revealing Himself to us as a Newborn Child was shadowed by how He was received. He came in a world were King Herod killed 14,000 children out of envy, in order to conserve his position in a passing world.

[EN] Herod preferred that God never existed and never came into this world. So do most of us 2,000 years later. But Herod didn’t ‘gain’ anything; he died, and all of us shall die.

[EN] Herod foolishly thought a mass murder could safeguard his reign. But he couldn’t make his life longer with a mere second. We often do the same, don’t we? Adesea noi facem la fel, nu-i aşa?

[EN] We imagine that abortions or contraceptives (many guilty of hidden abortions! ) can assure the comfort of our lives. [RO] Ne imaginăm că avorturile sau anticoncepţionalele (multe vinovate de avorturi ascunse!) ne pot asigura confortul vieţii.

[EN] As Herod thought he had a right of life and death upon his subjects’ lives, we imagine we can eradicate any unborn ‘inconveniences’.

[EN] The truth is that we ourselves are destroying our lives:

(1.) - lost pregnancies = the consequence of a mother or her spouse having had relations out of wedlock.

(2.) - children who die accidentally, can’t find a way in life or can’t marry = the consequence of mothers having aborted at least one of their brothers.

(3.) - women who can’t get pregnant = any of the above, plus: condoning abortions (“I don’t mind, it’s a free world, women should do what they want!”), advising others to abort or the use of contraceptives.

(4.) - bad dreams, irritability, anxiety, depression = also due to abortions, either known (surgical) or unknown (caused by the daily or the emergency ‘Pill’).

[RO] Adevărul este că noi singuri ne distrugem vieţile:

[EN] These (1.-3.) are, in a nutshell, the Church’s unscientific but undoubtedly true teachings. They are backed-up (3.-4.) by scientific data – as the readings recommended in this series show.

[EN] If we really wanted, we could easily see where our sins have brought us; yet we refuse to bow our hearts to the evidence.

[EN] There’s no scientific explanation for our murderous impulses, sprung from our love of comfort, vain glory, and for having our will done at all cost! Without God, science can’t explain anything.

.

[EN] It’s very unlikely that my blog post will ever shake people, and turn them into anti-abortion militants. Nor could I imagine apathic Europeans marching on the streets to defend the unborn.

[EN] We are as blind as Herod when we refuse to see that there are not enough children in Europe to secure our pensions 20-30 years from now. But this is not a hot issue.

[EN] What we care of is saving ourselves from carbon dioxide, stray dogs – from euthanasia, gay people – from discrimination or dying industries – from extinction...

[EN] Oh, Lord, the earth is soaking with the blood of some hundred millions aborted children, and we are worried that carbon dioxide is warming the atmosphere!!!

[EN] Why wouldn’t this (questionable) warmth rise up from the lakes of fires which await the murderers among us?!

[EN] We are hypocrites who want a prosperous life, wonderful vacations, high pensions, and the State should fulfill our legitimate requests for a better world.

[EN] A better world (the Kingdom of God) has already started with Baby Jesus being born. But we don’t want this one.

[EN] We want the illusive ‘better world’ where we do all we please, how we please, just like Herod did. [RO] Vrem iluzoria ‘lume mai bună’ unde noi facem tot ce vrem, cum vrem, aşa cum a făcut Irod.

[EN] We sleep with whoever we want, we choose to have children when we want, and how many we want. This is a much cherished liberty of today that our backward grandparents didn’t have.

[EN] If God dares to give us children when He wants, we kill them! Later on, if we can’t have children when we want, we decree that there is no God.

[EN] This is how we are, these are our icy hearts where Baby Jesus wants to be let in. He came to take us all out of the misery of egoism, even those who aborted children.

[EN] But He can’t forcibly save us, as salvation is a gift. We either accept this gift, and find happiness with Him, or we turn our back on Him!

[EN] Life on Earth without Him can be more or less bearable. At least for some. But the everlasting life without Him is surely unbearable!

[EN] If I were just a madman, the unbelievers reading these words would have nothing to lose. But what if I am right?

[EN] What if our indifference to the millions of children aborted each year in the world mattered for our eternal destiny?

[EN] What if we could change something for the better just by changing our attitude, first by getting informed (click on the links bellow!), and then by telling others what we learned?

[EN] I’m not saying we should throw stones at sinners. All murderous mothers and abortionist physicians who truly repent will be saved – without forgetting that there’s Only One Church.

[EN] Many women who killed some of their children desperately try to be good mothers for those whom they allowed to be born. Many are not aware of the gravity of what they have done.

[EN] All of them are victims of sin. If those of us with other (supposingly lesser) sins need so much effort to overcome them, how infinitely difficult it is for them to come to the Light of Christ!

[EN] Judging these women won’t help them, nor can this do anything good to us. Let us never forget this! [RO] Judecarea acestor femei nu le va ajuta, nici nu ne va aduce nouă ceva bun. Să nu uităm aceasta niciodată!

[EN] We should only say “hey, that’s murder”, anytime we hear people around us talking about the ‘choice’ of letting a child come to this world or not.

Throughout the previous 223 posts of this blog there were many little stories of mine + comments where I and my readers made (not necessarily programatic) attempts to offer some insights about how the truly British are.

Of course, there’s no way I could claim that we could have drawn an exhaustive general picture of the Brits on a blog. Nevertheless, one of my claims was that motorists in this country appear to love German cars, as these pictures show.

It seems I wasn’t wrong at least on this one. If we were to give credit to what I accidentally read on this website, the British love for German cars is a particular feature of this nation. I came across this definition of Britishness:

Being British is about driving in a German car to an Irish pub for a Belgian beer, then travelling home, grabbing an Indian curry or a Turkish kebab on the way, to sit on Swedish furniture and watch American shows on a Japanese TV.

Then the little joke (taken from here) adds: “And the most British thing of all? Suspicion of anything foreign.

There’s little doubt that the national British manufacturing industry is in dire straits – as long as even an iconic car brand like the Mini was taken over by the Germans! – but are the Brits really suspicious about anything foreign?!

According to my personal experience, I’d say that the Brits are more open to experiencing anything foreign than most other European nations, and also more tolerant than others to anything alien, unusual, and even bizzare.

Why is it that some believe the opposite? Are the Brits suspicious of foreign stuff? Or is this because they are suspicious of everything, including themselves? God willing, maybe I’ll have some comments on this topic!

Din raidurile mele prin inima Scoţiei (10) [From my forays into Scotland's heartland]

A crossroads of the Orthodox World (5) [O răscruce a Lumii Ortodoxe]

As Christians worldwide are remembering St. Nicholas today, Romanians are going to the polls again to choose – as I have already anticipated – the lesser of two evils.

Both candidates swore on the Holy Bible some 72 hours ago, stating that they are not guilty of one serious (from quite a long list, actually) accusation raised against them. Supporters from both camps have serious reasons to believe they are liars.

It may not be as exactly as bad as picking between Hitler and Stalin, as our great-grandfathers had to choose 65-70 years ago, but the choice is not too far from that either.

Irrespective of who wins, we’re either on the brink of civil war of economical collapse. Or both :-(

More than it needs a President and a new (properly working, not interimary) Cabinet, this country (already a storm-tossed ship!) would need a wonder-worker like St. Nicholas…

… as he is pictured here, taming a tempest, on a wall a the Stavropegic Monastery of St. John the Baptist, in Tolleshunt Knights (Maldon, the ‘irreligious’ Essex, SE of England).

This Orthodox monastery on British soil has some great icons and pictures (here’s another episode on this issue), and I find myself constantly amazed with the significations these images can reveal to one’s heart.

It seems to me that St. Nicholas only comes to the rescue when those awaiting a miracle are – although tense, maybe even frightened (click here or on the first picture for a cleared view!) holding their hands firmly on the oars.

I can’t see anyhting else but extremely hard times ahead for all Romanians, but any storms (albeit drawn upon us by our own sins) can be sailed through by those who will hold on to their faith.

Maybe such times are allowed by the Lord to see how much faith is left in Romania...

Chestii d-astea, numai la britanici (22) [Things like these, only at the Brits]

An independent Scotland: a stupid dream or a chance for better?

On Scotland’s Day, the Scottish National Party (SNP) probably thought of making a ‘pleasant surprise’ to the people of this country. The Scottish Executive anounced that, by next November 30, a referendum for independence will be held.

The two politicians in charge of the devolved Scottish Government – both with rather ‘fishy’ names: Alex Salmond (First Minister), and Nicola Sturgeon (Deputy First Minister) – seemed delighted to give the news to the country.

These two leaders – whose biographies show they are decent ‘provincial politicians’, with a ‘big plus’ for Salmond, who seems to be a staunch anti-abortionist (part of the ever shrinking group of pro-life political leaders in Britain) – appear so satisfied with their decision…

…as if all problems of the people living in Scotland could be miraculosuly solved in an independent country!

…as if the ‘chains’ which keep Scotland ‘enslaved’ by the Westminster Parliament and Government is the first and foremost concern of the Scots!

…as if the last obstacle staying in front of this dream coming true was merely the cost of the referendum – £ 9 million!

Unworthy of trust as polls can be, there’s a recent one claiming that only 20% of the Scots want to live in an independent country, while 32% want it to remain part of the UK.

Interestingly, 46% want increased powers for the Scottish Executive, therefore, given a well-ochestrated campaign, the Scots could (hypotetically) say YES to independence.

Although I met at least two people (with an age difference of some 55 years between them !) who would agree with independence, for most other Scots whom I talked to such a decision wouldn’t make sense.

In my view, only if a Tory Government would push the UK out of the EU or I-don’t-know-what kind of economic catastrophe struck England (but Scotland couldn’t be immune to that, could it?), would the Scots vote for independence.

One of the pro-independence lobby's arguments states that if Scotland received its geographical share of Norh Sea oil revenues, it would have a budget surplus of £ 800 million, unlike the budget deficit it has to deal with these days.

More money at one’s disposal often brings only bigger problems, and no genuine solutions. Does Scotland have better politicians than those whom the entire Britain sent to the Westminster Parliament?
